Mokshya Charity (मोक्ष ट्रस्ट) – Introduction
Mokshya Charity is a noble humanitarian organization founded by Ajit Shantaram Kerkar, whose life has been dedicated to serving society with compassion and courage. For over four decades, he has worked as an ambulance driver, helping patients in times of medical emergencies and standing by families during their most difficult moments.
The true inspiration behind Mokshya Charity emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic—a time when fear and uncertainty gripped society. Many families were unable to perform the last rites of their loved ones due to safety concerns and restrictions. In such heartbreaking circumstances, Ajit Kerkar stepped forward with remarkable bravery and humanity. He took on the responsibility of performing dignified last rites for the deceased, ensuring that no individual was abandoned in death, regardless of their caste, religion, or social background.
Deeply moved by these experiences, he resolved to create a structured platform to continue this service. With the unwavering support of his close associate Priya Mestri, who not only encouraged him but also provided financial and moral backing, Mokshya Charity (Moksh Trust) was established. The organization also received support from friends and well-wishers who believed in this meaningful cause.
Despite facing financial challenges, Mokshya Charity has continued its mission with dedication and resilience. The organization manages calls related to patients and deceased individuals, striving to support families in their time of need. Over the years, Ajit Kerkar and his team have performed the last rites of nearly 1,800 individuals, reflecting their unwavering commitment to humanity.
Mokshya Charity stands today as a powerful symbol of selfless service, dignity, and compassion. It reminds society of the importance of humanity even in the face of fear, and continues to inspire others to contribute towards helping those in their most vulnerable moments.
